Free Online Background Remover — What Free Means Here
Updated
People searching “free background remover” often expect unlimited cuts. That is not how ExportAlpha works — and this page says so plainly. You can start without a card, remove backgrounds online, and download transparent PNGs, but free usage is a trial allotment, not an infinite queue.
Start with free credits — not unlimited free
Open the still tool, run a cutout, and see what the trial actually gives you.
What free means here
- 5 free credits when you first sign in.
- 1 credit = 1 still image = 1 video second (shared pool).
- Trial stills are capped at 5.
- After the trial, buy credits to continue. Paid unlocks the better still model; trial runs on the lighter still model.
- Fair-use limits apply.
There is no unlimited free still removal on this product.
What you can do in the trial
Upload a photo to the background remover, run removal, and download a transparent PNG while credits remain. On the result you can also export Pure white (#FFFFFF) — same credit, no re-run. Pure white how-to: How to make a photo background white.
What “free” can mean elsewhere
Other products use the word “free” differently. This is not a Best/Top list — only an honest map of common patterns so you can compare:
- Capped trials / freemium credits — a fixed allotment, then pay (what we do).
- Desktop editors — “free” often means your time spent on manual masks, not cloud inference.
- Other online tools — read their caps, watermarks, and commercial terms yourself.
What free is not
- Not unlimited daily cuts
- Not a promise that every hair edge will be perfect on the lighter trial model
- Not a separate “image-only free forever” plan
Paid continuation
When you buy credits, you keep the same unit math (1 credit per still or per video second) and unlock the better still model for image jobs. Video stays on the same balance. See /pricing.
